Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to services provided by BSL Interpretations through this website, including live CPD training, mentoring, NRCPD endorsement support, Blog & Resources content and access to the BSL Interpretations Learning Hub.

By booking or using a service, you agree to the terms relevant to that service.

Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. General

Information on the website is provided in good faith and is reviewed periodically.

BSL Interpretations may make reasonable changes to website content, course information, resources or service arrangements where necessary.

Availability of a service is not guaranteed until a booking or arrangement has been confirmed.

2. CPD training bookings

Public CPD training is normally booked and paid for through Humanitix.

Your place is confirmed once the booking process has been completed and a valid booking confirmation has been issued.

It is your responsibility to provide an accurate email address when booking.

Please check your booking confirmation carefully and contact us promptly if any information is incorrect.

3. Joining information

Online session joining information will normally be sent to the email address associated with the booking.

Participants are responsible for:

If you have not received joining information by the day before a session, please contact BSL Interpretations before the session begins so that we have an opportunity to assist.

A refund will not normally be issued where joining information was correctly sent in reasonable time but was not seen because:

This does not apply where the failure to provide access was caused by BSL Interpretations.

4. Training cancellations and refunds

For ordinary single-session CPD tickets, a refund may be requested when the request is received at least 14 days before the session.

Requests made less than 14 days before the session are normally non-refundable.

Where possible, we may offer a refund if we can fill the place from a waiting list.

If you have a colleague or another suitable person who can attend in your place, contact us before the session. A ticket transfer may be permitted by agreement.

Tickets should not be transferred or resold without prior agreement from BSL Interpretations.

Failure to attend, forgetting the session, work commitments, travel, illness or another last-minute change of circumstances does not automatically create a right to a refund, subject always to any rights provided by applicable law.

We may consider exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

5. Series tickets

Where a ticket covers a series of sessions, the ticket is non-refundable once the first session in the series has taken place.

Series tickets are normally issued to the named attendee and are not transferable unless agreed in advance.

6. Humanitix and booking fees

Humanitix may charge booking, payment-processing or ticketing fees.

Where a third-party booking or transaction fee is non-refundable by Humanitix, that fee will not normally form part of a BSL Interpretations refund unless applicable law requires otherwise.

7. Cancellation or changes by BSL Interpretations

Occasionally, a session may need to be changed, postponed or cancelled.

If BSL Interpretations cancels a session and no suitable rearranged option is accepted, the ticket price paid for that session will be refunded in accordance with the applicable booking arrangements.

We may make reasonable changes to:

where this does not substantially change the advertised purpose or learning outcomes of the session.

If a material change is made that significantly alters the service booked, appropriate options will be offered.

BSL Interpretations is not responsible for consequential costs such as lost earnings, travel or other expenses resulting from a session change or cancellation, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Live online delivery

Unless specifically stated otherwise, BSL Interpretations CPD sessions are delivered live online.

Sessions are not recorded unless a particular event expressly states otherwise.

Attendees are responsible for having:

Refunds are not normally available for difficulties caused by the attendee's own equipment, internet connection, software, device settings or local connectivity.

Where a significant technical failure is caused by BSL Interpretations or the service cannot reasonably be delivered, an appropriate remedy may be offered.

9. Participation and cameras

BSL Interpretations courses are designed to be interactive.

Participants are strongly encouraged to use their camera where possible because visual engagement contributes to communication and group learning, particularly during smaller-group activities.

We recognise that there may be genuine circumstances where camera use is not practical or appropriate.

Participants are expected to engage respectfully with trainers and other attendees.

BSL Interpretations reserves the right to remove somebody from a session for abusive, discriminatory, threatening or seriously disruptive behaviour. A refund will not normally be offered where removal is a result of the participant's conduct.

10. Certificates and CPD points

Where a course includes a certificate of attendance, this will normally be provided after attendance has been verified.

Certificates confirm attendance and do not certify competence unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Any CPD points stated are based on the duration and structure of the session.

Participants remain responsible for checking whether a particular activity meets the requirements of their own regulator, professional body or employer.

11. Course materials and intellectual property

Course handbooks, slides, activities, videos, worksheets, Learning Hub resources and other materials supplied by BSL Interpretations or its trainers remain the intellectual property of their respective owner unless otherwise stated.

Materials are supplied for the attendee's personal professional learning.

They must not be:

without permission from the relevant rights holder.

Participants must not make audio, video or screen recordings of a training session without express prior permission.

12. Mentoring

Mentoring begins with an introductory discussion to establish whether the service is appropriate.

Paid mentoring sessions and applicable fees will be confirmed before the service begins.

Mentoring is intended to support professional reflection, practical development, theoretical understanding and professional decision-making.

It does not guarantee a particular professional, employment, assessment or registration outcome.

Mentoring cancellations

Where possible, please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to rearrange or cancel a mentoring appointment.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged in full unless otherwise agreed.

Where BSL Interpretations needs to cancel a mentoring appointment, an alternative appointment will be offered or any fee already paid for that appointment will be refunded.

13. NRCPD endorsement and Senior Practitioner support

NRCPD endorsement support is provided in accordance with the professional role and requirements relevant at the time.

The service may include assessment, PDP development and review, professional discussion, skills development, feedback and preparation of relevant endorsement or assessment documentation.

BSL Interpretations cannot guarantee that a trainee will:

The trainee remains responsible for their own registration, course requirements, evidence, deadlines and professional conduct.

Where the required practice standard is not demonstrated, BSL Interpretations will not confirm or endorse a standard that has not been met.

If a trainee stops receiving Senior Practitioner/Practice Assessor support from BSL Interpretations, any ongoing endorsement arrangement with BSL Interpretations also ends and the trainee is responsible for arranging suitable replacement support where required.

Endorsement appointment cancellations

Where possible, please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to rearrange or cancel an appointment.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged in full unless otherwise agreed.

14. Confidentiality within mentoring and endorsement

Professional discussions are treated respectfully and confidentially.

There may be circumstances where information must be disclosed or acted upon because of:

Where possible and appropriate, this would normally be discussed with the person concerned.

15. Learning Hub

Learning Hub access is provided only to authorised members.

Access may be included with particular mentoring, endorsement or other services.

Learning Hub accounts are personal and must not be shared.

Members are responsible for keeping their password secure.

Access may be suspended or removed where:

Learning Hub content is provided for professional development and does not itself constitute a regulated qualification or guarantee CPD acceptance by a particular professional body.

Resources may be updated, replaced or withdrawn as the Hub develops.

16. Blog & Resources information

The BSL Interpretations Blog & Resources area contains articles, interviews, commentary, professional reflections, downloads and other materials relating to interpreting, translation, professional development and related subjects.

Content is published in good faith and is intended primarily for information, reflection and professional learning.

Accuracy and changes over time

Information is considered accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time an article or resource is published.

However:

Older articles are not necessarily updated each time an external rule, policy or source changes.

The original publication date is therefore important when considering whether information remains current.

Readers are responsible for checking relevant current primary sources, professional guidance and regulatory information before relying on material for professional decisions.

Not official regulatory guidance

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Blog & Resources content published by BSL Interpretations should not be treated as official guidance from NRCPD, a professional association, training provider, regulator, government body or other organisation.

Where an article discusses or links to guidance from another organisation, readers should refer to that organisation's current official material for the authoritative position.

Professional and other advice

Blog and resource content is general information and professional discussion.

It is not intended to constitute individual:

Readers should seek suitably qualified advice where a decision requires it.

Opinions and commentary

Some articles may contain personal professional opinions, reflections, interpretation of research or discussion of professional practice.

Where an article expresses an opinion, that view belongs to the named author and should not automatically be treated as the position of another organisation, regulator, employer or professional body.

Guest contributors are responsible for the views expressed in their own contributions.

Publication of a guest article or interview does not necessarily mean that BSL Interpretations agrees with every opinion expressed.

Fact checking and professional responsibility

Reasonable care is taken when preparing and publishing material.

However, readers remain responsible for checking information that is important to their own professional work, registration, study or decision-making.

The Blog & Resources area should support professional thinking and reflection rather than replace current source material or individual professional judgement.

External links

Articles may contain links to:

Links are checked or considered relevant when the content is published where reasonably practical.

External websites may subsequently:

BSL Interpretations cannot guarantee that an external link will remain available indefinitely or that external material will remain unchanged.

A link to an external resource does not necessarily constitute endorsement of all content, views, products or services on that website.

Downloads and resources

Downloadable files and other resources may be available alongside an article at the time of publication.

Availability is not guaranteed indefinitely.

Files may later be:

Where a resource has been superseded, readers should use the most recent authoritative version where appropriate.

Corrections

If you believe an article contains a significant factual error or an important link or resource no longer works, you are welcome to contact BSL Interpretations through the Contact page.

Where appropriate, material may be corrected, updated or annotated.

17. Third-party services

Some services rely on third-party platforms, including Humanitix, Zoom, Firebase and website/email providers.

BSL Interpretations is not responsible for temporary outages or failures of third-party services outside its reasonable control, although reasonable steps will be taken to support attendees or members where service delivery is materially affected.

18. Website links and external resources

The wider website and Learning Hub may also contain links to third-party websites, research, guidance or other resources.

A link does not necessarily constitute endorsement of all content on an external website.

External content may change without our knowledge and remains the responsibility of its publisher.

19. Liability

BSL Interpretations will provide paid services with reasonable care.

To the extent permitted by law, BSL Interpretations is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from matters outside its reasonable control, including attendee equipment failure, internet outages or third-party service disruption.

Information and resources published on the website are provided for general professional information and learning. Users remain responsible for deciding whether information is appropriate and sufficiently current for their own circumstances.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

20. Questions and complaints

If you have a question about a booking, service, website content or these Terms and Conditions, please contact BSL Interpretations through the website Contact page.

We would normally prefer the opportunity to resolve an issue directly and promptly.

21. Changes to these terms

These Terms and Conditions may be updated when services, booking arrangements, technology, professional requirements or legal requirements change.

For booked services, the version in force at the time of booking will normally apply to that booking unless a change is required by law or is otherwise agreed.

For website and Learning Hub use, the current version published on the website applies.
