This Privacy Policy explains how BSL Interpretations collects, uses and protects personal information when you use this website, contact us, join the mailing list, book training, use mentoring or NRCPD endorsement services, or access the BSL Interpretations Learning Hub.
Who we are
BSL Interpretations is operated by Stephen Ellis-Menton, trading as BSL Interpretations.
For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, BSL Interpretations is the data controller for personal information collected through the website and in connection with the services we provide.
Privacy and data-protection enquiries can be submitted through the Contact page by selecting the privacy/data request option.
Information we may collect
Depending on how you use our website and services, we may collect information including:
- your name
- email address
- professional role or registration status
- organisation or training provider where relevant
- information you provide in an enquiry form
- information required to arrange mentoring or NRCPD endorsement
- training booking and attendance information
- mailing-list preferences and consent
- Learning Hub account and access information

- correspondence between you and BSL Interpretations
- technical information required to operate and secure the website and Learning Hub, such as IP address, browser/device information, authentication information and server logs
Please do not submit unnecessary sensitive personal information through general website forms.
Contact and enquiry forms
When you submit a contact, mentoring, endorsement, CPD or bespoke-training enquiry, we use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and, where appropriate, arrange the requested service.
Information submitted through a form may be stored by the website and processed by services used to operate the website and deliver the resulting communication.
We do not use information supplied through an ordinary service enquiry to add you to the marketing mailing list unless you separately consent to receive marketing communications.
Training bookings and Humanitix
Bookings for BSL Interpretations CPD sessions are normally made through Humanitix.
Humanitix processes booking and payment information according to its own privacy terms.
The BSL Interpretations website does not collect or store your payment-card information.
We may receive information from Humanitix that is necessary to administer your booking, such as your name, email address, ticket type and booking details.
Mailing list and Sender
If you choose to join the BSL Interpretations mailing list, we may collect:
- first name
- last name
- email address
- evidence of your marketing consent
Sender is the service selected for mailing-list subscriptions and marketing emails where that connection is configured and active.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in marketing emails.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending essential service communications relating to something you have booked, requested or have an account for.
Learning Hub and Firebase Authentication
The BSL Interpretations Learning Hub is a protected member area hosted separately from the public website.
Firebase Authentication, provided by Google, is used to authenticate Learning Hub accounts.
Authentication information may include your email address, authentication credentials and technical/security information associated with login activity.
Passwords are handled through Firebase Authentication and are not available to BSL Interpretations in readable form.
Learning Hub access may be activated, deactivated or removed according to your entitlement to use the Hub.
Mentoring and NRCPD endorsement
Where you use mentoring or NRCPD endorsement services, we may keep information necessary to provide that service.
This may include:
- contact information
- professional status
- development goals
- meeting records
- PDP-related information
- assessment records
- correspondence
- documents required in connection with endorsement or professional registration processes
We only use this information for providing and administering the service, meeting professional responsibilities, maintaining appropriate records and dealing with regulatory or legal requirements where applicable.
Why we use personal information
Depending on the circumstances, we may process personal information because:
- it is necessary to provide a service or respond to a request
- it is necessary to perform or prepare for a contract with you
- we have your consent, particularly for marketing
- we have a legitimate interest in operating, administering and securing our services
- we need to comply with legal, accounting, regulatory or professional obligations
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

Where required, those providers use recognised legal or contractual safeguards for international transfers.
BSL Interpretations does not represent that all website or account data is stored exclusively within Spain, the EEA or the UK.
