Introduction to International Signing for Interpreters and Transaltors (Part 1)

This one-day online workshop is ideal for individuals who already possess advanced skills in any sign language. It is particularly beneficial for those who use sign language regularly in their professional or personal lives, such as sign language interpreters and translators. The workshop is designed to broaden participants' visual language strategies, enabling them to engage in basic conversations using International Sign (IS).

Learning Objectives:

• Introduction to International Sign: Develop a foundational understanding of how International Sign works and learn strategies to navigate and overcome cultural barriers.

• Expanding Visual Communication: Learn how to effectively expand and adapt signed definitions, moving beyond reliance on a specific sign language or verbal expressions to convey meaning through visual and globally recognised signs and gestures.

• Enhancing Communication Skills: Improve your ability to produce and interpret sign language, setting new standards for conversation in both your native sign language and International Sign.

• Building Confidence: Gain the confidence needed to initiate and participate in informal conversations in International Sign within diverse international settings.

  
  

This workshop runs from 10 am to 4 pm and is delivered in British Sign Language (BSL).
